About Michael Schmidt
In 1992, MSCI owner and founder, Michael Schmidt, brought the master craftsman industry from Germany to Southwest Florida.
After Michael successfully completed the Master Craftsman Degree Program at Handwerkskammer Kassel in Kassel, Germany, he visited a friend in Naples and discovered the absence of the master craftsman interiors model in the States. What began as a one-man operation is now a thriving business and workroom that provides a comprehensive menu of services to interior designers in Naples, Florida and around the world.
In short, Michael Schmidt’s Master Craftsman Degree and German heritage are what set MSCI apart from other organizations in Southwest Florida and beyond. This degree program – taught only in Europe – informs every part of the creation and installation process at MSCI across all lines of service. The degree program demands participants to achieve mastery of carpet inlay and installation, window treatment manufacturing and installation, crown molding, paint, wallpaper installation, and wall upholstery, as well as furniture design, restoration, construction, and upholstery.
